Frantz Ward is proud to announce that Marc A. Sanchez, Partner in the Construction Practice Group, is the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award from El Barrio Workforce Development Program. Marc will be recognized during the Taste Latino celebration and fundraiser, hosted by The Centers for Families and Children, on Thursday, April 27 at El Carnicero in Lakewood, Ohio.

The El Barrio Workforce Development Program is a workforce partnership with The Centers for Families and Children. It is an integrated service model that leads to more successful, measurable outcomes for the unemployed and underemployed as well as the broader business community in Greater Cleveland. In 2016, El Barrio helped nearly 500 individuals secure employment and provided ongoing retention support to bolster the new employee’s success.

Marc currently serves as Board Chair of El Barrio and as a member of the Board of Directors for The Centers for Families and Children. He has been involved with El Barrio for over 22 years and has seen the program grow from an independent organization through several mergers. Marc was instrumental in the 1995 merge with the West Side Ecumenical Ministry (WSEM) which allowed focus on long-term goals and growth. He was also keenly involved in the merger in 2011 with The Centers for Families and Children. Since then, “Marc’s leadership and vision as an advocate of El Barrio has been unmatched and he continues to promote El Barrio’s value and purpose in the community,” said Ingrid Angel, Director of El Barrio.

In addition, Marc serves on the board of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and the Cleveland Leadership Center. He is a graduate of Leadership Cleveland’s Class of 2013.

In his legal practice, Marc represents general contractors, specialty trades and subcontractors, including the arbitration, mediation and litigation of claims. Marc advises clients on claim management and avoidance, risk management and insurance, scheduling and safety issues as well as minority certification and compliance. He negotiates and drafts all types of construction contracts, perfects and enforces mechanics’ liens, prosecutes and defends defective workmanship claims and surety bond claims. Marc has counseled clients on a wide variety of issues including delay and acceleration, defective workmanship, insurance coverage, competitive bidding disputes, surety bond claims, personal injury and wrongful death claims and termination claims. Marc has been recognized in the area of construction by the prestigious Chambers USA: America’s Guide to Leading Lawyers in Business, is named to The Best Lawyers in America and is peer-review ranked AV Preeminent, the highest ranking, by Martindale-Hubbell.
