Christina E. Niro has been named to the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s Leadership Academy Class of 2021. The program will begin on September 24.
The Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s Leadership Academy is a 10-month, selective and highly-regarded program. Leadership Academy candidates have a demonstrated passion for the profession and civic engagement, a genuine commitment to expanding leadership development and an excitement for building relationships with a broad cross-section of lawyers and leaders in greater Cleveland. During the program, candidates have the opportunity to serve the community through pro bono projects, work with legal and community leaders and receive professional development and leadership training.
Christina advises and represents employers in a broad range of employment law matters, from discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, and harassment, to cases involving contract disputes, restrictive covenants, trade secret theft and misappropriation, and unfair competition. She has litigated and tried cases in state and federal courts and frequently represents employers in various state and federal administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, and the Department of Labor. Christina also provides employers of all sizes with day-to-day preventive counseling on topics such as FMLA and ADA compliance, compliance with state and federal cannabis laws, employee discipline, litigation prevention strategies, and employee handbook and policy development. She is OSHA 30 certified and represents and advises employers in all phases of compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, state administrative safety regulations, and related workplace safety issues. Christina also conducts in-house training on a variety of employment law topics to help employers understand, prevent and correct discrimination in the workplace. In addition, she serves as the Chair of the Frantz Ward Women’s Initiative. Christina is the recipient of the 2019 YWCA Distinguished Young Women Award. She is named
to The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Litigation-Labor and Employment and is recognized on the Ohio Super Lawyers Rising Stars list. Christina earned her J.D.,
cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and her B.A.,
summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Honors College at Denison University.
