Frantz Ward LLP announces the launch of
Shoveling Smoke – A Frantz Ward Lawcast, a podcast series dedicated to making sense of the gray areas of law.
The podcast’s name comes from a quote by Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes indicating “lawyers spend a great deal of time shoveling smoke.” One interpretation of his remark is that lawyers take a vague concept or principle and give it shape, clearing away the smoke.
Frantz Ward’s podcast series will focus on current legal issues and news items that may affect businesses and the community. The hosts, Frantz Ward Partners
Chris Koehler and
Mike Smith, have over 60 years combined legal experience. They will be interviewing intriguing guests – a colleague, judge or client – and discuss legal topics listeners need to know about. They will spend 15-20 minutes exploring an issue, and at the end of each episode, they will provide a few takeaways.
Shoveling Smoke – A Frantz Ward Lawcast debuted on February 2, 2021 with the release of its first episode, “
Where Have You Gone Mrs. Pfalsgraf? Understanding Premises Liability in the COVID World.” In this episode, host Mike Smith speaks with Frantz Ward Partner
Pat Haggerty regarding insights on protecting businesses from potential liability for claims from people supposedly contracting COVID while on their property.
Podcast topics will cover a wide range of legal issues, a reflection of the firm’s full-service practice offering. For example, the next episode features host Chris Koehler interviewing Frantz Ward employment attorney
Megan Bennett as they discuss the COVID vaccine and its impact on employment law issues. Future topics include an update on the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), a three-part series on the implications of the new Biden administration addressing employment, health care and tax regulations, and many more.
