Thomas E. Cardone and
Allison Taller Reich, members of the firm’s Construction Practice Group, will participate in the 2017/2018 Kent State University/Turner Construction School of Construction Workshop Series. They will be leading the lecture, “Construction Law” that will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2018.
Kent State University (KSU) and Turner Construction Company offer a nine-month Workshop Series to meet the development and supportive needs of diverse businesses in the Northeast Ohio region. The program, part of KSU’s supplier diversity initiative, is intended to assist contractors in scaling their companies. The workshop explores the intersection between private construction and state of Ohio construction, along with the regulation required for both.
Tom and Allison, along with the additional attorneys of
Frantz Ward’s Construction Practice, devote their practice solely to the construction and surety industry.
Tom represents contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and materials-and-equipment manufacturers, among other construction professionals. He assists construction professionals in all aspects of the construction profess from contracting through project close-out. He regularly counsels clients with the legal aspect of project management. When disputes arise, Tom has experience handling project-related claims, such as payment disputes, construction liens, payment- and performance-bond claims, schedule-impact claims, differing site conditions, extra-work claims, default and termination disputes, construction and design defects, and various other construction matters. Tom also advises construction and non-construction clients concerning state- and federal-government contracts. Prior to becoming an attorney, Tom served honorably as a United States Marine. He received his J.D., with Honors, from Emory University School of Law and his B.A. from Auburn University.
Allison focuses on all aspects of construction law, including drafting, negotiating, and revising contracts; assisting clients manage claims, projects, and schedules in real time to keep projects moving; and resolving disputes between her clients. She strives to obtain the best possible result for her clients at the earliest opportunity. Because of this, Allison engages in negotiations and mediations before and in addition to arbitration hearings and litigation proceedings including trials. She is dedicated to her clients because she understands the issues they face—large and small—can make or break for each client. She received her J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and her B.S. in Architecture from The Ohio State University.
