Frantz Ward recently handled the combination of Hills & Dales Healthcare (Hills & Dales General Hospital) and United Healthcare Partners (Deckerville Community Hospital, Marlette Regional Hospital, and The Heartlands Marlette Senior Living) to form the new organization Aspire Rural Health System. The multi-hospital system aims to improve care offerings and increase patient access across the Thumb region of Michigan.

Craig Haran stated, “We are delighted to have helped Hills & Dales Healthcare and United Healthcare Partners achieve their desired outcome and excited for what Aspire Rural Health System has to offer the wider community in the years ahead.”
To launch the combination, Frantz Ward prepared a non-binding Letter of Intent, which was signed by Hills & Dales Healthcare and United Healthcare Partners in early November.
The firm also advised Hills & Dales’ Management Team and Board of Directors, drafted the definitive agreement and related documents, conducted due diligence, prepared corporate filings, and helped to secure the Michigan Attorney General’s Office determination that it had no objection to the consummation of the transaction.
Through the new health care system, Hills & Dales Healthcare and United Healthcare Partners plan to grow local access to care while boosting recruitment and retention efforts and updating care facilities across the Thumb region.
